It's Birthday Time - Henry is 5!

This week, Henry turned 5 years old! He celebrated with a movie party where he shared donuts and popcorn with his friends. His birthday lunch choice was a hamburger, fries and rootbeer at a local pub.

I've updated Henry's food preferences on the About Us page. Most of his favorites remain the same, with yogurt as his top choice. His least favorite foods continue to be eggs and mashed potatoes.

We've also given Henry new responsibilities as a five year old. In addition to packing his own lunches, one of his new jobs is to help prepare a breakfast or dinner each week. When we create our weekly meal plan as a family on Sunday mornings, he can choose which meal he would most like to help cook. This first week, Henry chose to help make enchiladas. He scooped the sauce onto the filled tortillas and sprinkled them generously with cheese. He's also learning how to make a cup of tea for me at breakfast every morning.

What kitchen chores does your five year old have?

Henry's Lunchbox - The Purple Lunchbox

This week, Henry packed four school lunches and purchased one cafeteria lunch.

Henry's favorite lunchbox this year has been his purple Bentgo Kids container. He chose the color himself. He especially likes all the sections in the box so that he can have lots of different foods at lunch. In January, I even purchased a set of silicone muffin cups so that he would be encouraged to use his Planetbox Shuttle as often with its single divider.
