Wasabi Baby

Henry was in a funny mood at dinner last night. We went out for dinner at a Japanese restaurant, but Henry started to get squirmy as soon as we ordered. He quickly escalated to cranky so we changed our order to take-out. We were not sure whether he would make it all the way through dinner at home.

When we sat down, Henry immediately pulled off his bib and then got to work dissecting the cucumber rolls. He also enjoyed slurping miso soup. He did not care for the teriyaki pork strips, which was surprising since he usually goes for the meat first.
Henry devours a cucumber roll.
A little wasabi accidentally mixed in with his portion of sticky rice and he seemed to enjoy it much more than plain rice. Usually I tone down the spice for him, but apparently he wanted a little more flavor.
Henry squealed with delight for the wasabi rice.
Toward the end of our meal he went a little crazy with the Chinese soup spoon and we captured some of his silliness on video.
After dinner, we put him in the bath to rinse off the rice. Then he crashed for the night and slept very well.

Henry's Lunchbox - The Purple Lunchbox

This week, Henry packed four school lunches and purchased one cafeteria lunch.

Henry's favorite lunchbox this year has been his purple Bentgo Kids container. He chose the color himself. He especially likes all the sections in the box so that he can have lots of different foods at lunch. In January, I even purchased a set of silicone muffin cups so that he would be encouraged to use his Planetbox Shuttle as often with its single divider.
